ACADEMICS PROGRAMMES

At the Primary level (Classes I to V), our curriculum is geared towards equipping the children with basic knowledge, skills and attitudes in conformity with the recommendations of the National Curriculum Framework (NCF). The core academic subjects, namely, two languages (Hindi and English), Mathematics, and Environmental Studies (combination of science and social studies) are taught through modern, child-centred methodologies with intensive usage of computer-aided learning.

At the Middle level (Classes VI to VIII) too, we adopt innovative methodologies to teach the 5 core subjects, namely, Hindi, English, Mathematics, Science and Social Sciences. Sanskrit, French and Urdu are also taught as the third languages at this stage. We rely a great deal on ICT (Information and Communication Technology) to make teaching-learning at this stage a process based on investigative, exploratory and analytical techniques. As holders of the British Council's International Dimension in Schools Award, we give challenging assignments to students instead of the routine homework to inculcate in them the skills to work in groups and to reach out to the sources of learning with a keen and inquisitive mind and to present their findings in a cohesive, rational and systematic way, using ICT-facilitated tools such as multimedia and Microsoft Office.

At the Secondary (Classes IX and X) and the Senior Secondary (Classes XI and XII) levels, the academic programmes are determined by the JKBOSE and we implement them as per the norms laid down. For effective teaching-learning, we use ICT tools extensively at these stages too. Problem solving, higher order thinking and acquisition of life skills are given top priority at this stage of school education.

As institutional member of the British Council's International Dimension in Schools Programme and as global member school of the Round Square worldwide network of innovative schools, we involve our students in learning the curriculum of the NCERT and the JKBOSE through project method and in collaboration with other member schools spread all over the world.

SCHOOL LABS

In this age of rapid scientific and technological advancement, the importance of practical and hands-on approach to learning at all levels has increased manifold.

In addition to the standard science labs in Physics, Chemistry and Biology, we have also well-equipped labs in Mathematics and Social Sciences as per the recommendations of the JKBOSE. Our ICT (Information & Communication Technology) labs located in both senior and junior wings of the school are pulsating centres of activity and are equipped with the latest state-of-the-art hardware and software. Emphasis is laid on hands-on approach to IT education and the annual curriculum consists of a number of projects on various utilitarian activities such as DTP, Multimedia, Presentations, Digital imaging, Website Designing and so on.

We have also an English Language Lab in the ICT Centre of the Junior Wing and teachers of English use it frequently to reinforce language skills among children from classes I to V.

LIBRARY

Our school library has a rich collection of books on all major subjects. Every year, fresh additions are made to the collection. We also subscribe to a wide range of daily newspapers, journals, periodicals and magazines for the library.

SMART CLASSES

Information and communication technology has transformed the face of school education in the entire world. Traditional teaching-learning aids have turned obsolete overnight and have been replaced by computer-generated tools that make learning in any subject a truly enjoyable experience for the learner. With these tools at their disposal, teachers feel highly empowered and have been using them to great effect for quite some time now.

Our teachers are well trained and oriented in the use of all ICT tools and keep on factoring them into their classroom pedagogical approaches to make the process of teaching-learning effective.

Almost all the classrooms in the school have been converted into Smart Classrooms since 2011 with latest state-of-the-art hardware and software. Teachers are allocated sufficient time in their daily time-table to make use of the facility in a systematic manner. During the lockdown period imposed in the wake of Covid-19 pandemic, our teachers have improved their ICT skills manifold for teaching children online effectively.

SCHOOL HOUSES

All the students are divided into β€˜Houses’ for the purpose of inculcating in them the virtues of responsibility, leadership, teamwork, loyalty, spirit of healthy competition and cooperation. The 4 Houses are named ECO FRIENDLY, HUMAN VALUE, FIT INDIA HOUSE, SOCIAL SERVICE HOUSE.
